An introduction to working with digital images and establishing a coherent digital workflow with Bridge, Camera Raw and Photoshop.
File management Looking at how to set up a sound working file structure with folders for raw files, PSD masters, low res jpegs etc. Bridge How to use Photo Downloader to import images from card or camera. Using Photo Downloader to copyright images. Exploring the Bridge workspace and using Bridge to view, rate and organise images. Camera Raw Understanding how CR works with Bridge and PS. Look at different file types / bit depths – advantages / disadvantages etc. Understanding the non-destructive way in which CR works Creating multiple versions from a raw file. Saving images as Jpegs or Tiffs directly from CR How to use CR to make basic tonal and colour adjustments. How to interpret the histogram – clipping warnings etc and using the Histogram to optimize tonal range. How to use CR to make multiple adjustments – synchronising adjustments etc Look at CR workflow options – colour space, bit depth, resolution etc. Multiple saves from CR. Photoshop Look at the layout of PS, how to reset the workspace, personalise the workspace, working with 2 screens. Using different screen modes to view images. Brief look at colour space warnings – colour space settings. Image size - how to change the size of images and the resolution. Understanding file size in terms of resolution and image size. Look at common different resolution settings. Understand resampling – chosing the best method. Limitations of interpolation. Using the crop tool to resize and resample. Using the crop tool free hand, using perspective cropping. Saving work – file formats etc. History – Setting up history (number of states), using snap shots, history brush. Non-linear history. |
